The Elmhurst Public Library has received a national ranking from America’s Star Libraries, an annual review of public libraries conducted by Library Journal. In an article about the rankings, the Library Journal reported that top libraries like Elmhurst excelled due to high circulation rates, welcoming facilities, targeted programs and collections that have a wide range offerings. More than 7,400 libraries were rated and only 258 qualified as star libraries. The ranking is based on information reported to the federal government including program attendance and public internet terminal use per capita. Libraries are rated within their budget categories.
