Community Colleges?
I was wondering what the opinion of Community Colleges is, as far as the quality of education. Some consider it to be a low level of education while others highly support it. Is a CC education of good quality?
There is a broad range of quality among community colleges, so it depends where you live. Of course, none are at the level of elite universities, but some are really quite good at what they do.

Creating community colleges opened doors for thousands
There's more of nearly everything here since 2003, when Central Maine Technical College became Central Maine Community College. When the name changed, the image changed, but technical and career programs have not been forgotten, CMCC President Scott Knapp said. Programs added since 2003 include criminal justice, early childhood education, educational technicians, medical assistants and human services, Knapp said. Students at CMCC grew from 1,600 to 2,870. While we have grown our transfer programs, we have more students in career and technical now than before. Even in the tough economy, 94 percent of graduates have found jobs or have continued their education, Knapp said. But just as workers have turned to community colleges, states have cut their budgets, forcing the institutions to turn away legions of students and stymieing the efforts to retrain the workforce.
